This is a Windows 11 Pro retail product key for one PC that activates through Microsoft’s confirmation ID process, which most sellers still call “phone activation”. You get the full Windows 11 Pro edition with the same features and updates as any other Pro licence. The only difference is one extra step at activation, which takes about five minutes. That step is the reason the price is lower than an online-activation Windows 11 Pro OEM key.

What does “phone activation” mean for Windows 11 in 2026?

Phone activation is Microsoft’s offline activation route. Windows shows you an installation ID, Microsoft returns a matching confirmation ID, and entering that code activates Windows. Since 3 December 2025, Microsoft no longer issues these codes over its automated phone line. You now get them from Microsoft’s online Product Activation Portal, or from our free confirmation ID tool.

The PC you are activating can stay offline the whole time. You only need a phone or a second computer with internet access to fetch the confirmation ID.

Keys in this format are issued for confirmation ID activation instead of instant online activation. Once activated, Windows 11 Pro behaves exactly like any other activated copy. It receives Windows Update, monthly security patches and new feature releases.

Is a phone activation key the right Windows 11 Pro licence for you?

It is the right choice if you are installing Windows 11 Pro on one PC that you plan to keep, and you are happy to spend five extra minutes on activation to save money. It is the wrong choice if you are likely to replace the motherboard or move the licence to a new computer.

What does Windows 11 Pro add over Windows 11 Home?

Pro adds the security, remote access and management tools that Home leaves out. Its everyday apps and interface are the same as Home.

• BitLocker drive encryption, with full control over fixed and removable drives. If a laptop is lost, the data on it stays protected.
• Remote Desktop host, so you can connect to this PC from another computer. Home can only connect out to other machines.
• Hyper-V and Windows Sandbox for running virtual machines, or for testing a suspicious file in a disposable, isolated copy of Windows.
• Group Policy Editor for fine control over updates, telemetry and user restrictions.
• Domain and Microsoft Entra ID join, which you need if the PC has to sign in to a company network.
• Windows Update for Business settings, which let you delay feature updates instead of taking them as soon as they are released.

Three things to check before you buy

Most failed activations we deal with come from one of these three problems, not from a faulty key.

1. The installed edition must be Windows 11 Pro. This key will not upgrade Windows 11 Home to Pro, and it will not activate Windows 11 Pro N or Pro for Workstations. If you are on Home, either install Pro from scratch or buy the Windows 11 Home to Pro upgrade.
2. The PC must meet Windows 11’s hardware rules. TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are the two that catch people out. Microsoft’s PC Health Check app confirms this in a minute.
3. The key covers one PC, once. After activation it can’t be entered on another computer, and it can’t be moved to new hardware.

How do I activate Windows 11 Pro with a phone activation key?

You enter the key, open the offline activation window, swap the installation ID for a confirmation ID, and then type that code back in. The steps are below.

1. Install Windows 11 Pro using Microsoft’s official Windows 11 download page. When the installer asks for an edition, choose Windows 11 Pro.
2. Open Settings > System > Activation > Change product key and enter your 25-character key.
3. If Windows says the key must be activated by phone, press Windows + R, type slui 4 and press Enter. Choose your country, and Windows will display your installation ID.
4. Get your confirmation ID. You can enter the installation ID in our CID tool, or in Microsoft’s Product Activation Portal at aka.ms/aoh (this needs a free Microsoft account).
5. Type the confirmation ID into the boxes in the same window and select Activate. Then check that Settings > System > Activation shows Windows is activated.

What happens after you order?

The key is emailed to you, usually within minutes of payment clearing. The same email includes activation instructions and your invoice. You can also view everything later under your account. If activation doesn’t work, open a support ticket and tell us the error code. We’ll either walk you through it or deal with it under our refund and replacement policy.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to call Microsoft to activate this key?

No. Microsoft retired its automated phone activation line on 3 December 2025, and calling the number now just directs you to the online portal. You get the confirmation ID online, either from Microsoft’s Product Activation Portal or from our CID tool. The whole process takes about five minutes.

Is this a genuine Windows 11 Pro key?

Yes. It is a Windows 11 Pro retail product key, and activation is checked by Microsoft’s own activation servers, not by any third-party tool. If Microsoft doesn’t accept the key, our refund and replacement policy applies.

Can I activate a PC that has no internet connection?

Yes. That is what confirmation ID activation was designed for. The PC being activated can stay offline. You read the installation ID off its screen, get the confirmation ID on a phone or another computer, and type it back in.

Will this key upgrade Windows 11 Home to Pro?

No. It only activates a copy of Windows 11 Pro that is already installed. To move from Home to Pro without reinstalling, use the Windows 11 Home to Pro upgrade key instead.

Is the licence linked to my Microsoft account?

No, the licence doesn’t bind to a Microsoft account. In practice, this means Microsoft’s Activation Troubleshooter can’t move the licence to a new motherboard for you. That is why we recommend this key for a PC you intend to keep.

What happens if I reinstall Windows later?

Treat this key as a one-time activation, because it can’t be entered again after it has been used. Windows does store a digital licence for your hardware, so a clean reinstall on the same, unchanged PC often reactivates by itself once online. We can’t guarantee that for phone activation keys, though. After a motherboard change you will need a new licence.

Will I get Windows updates?

Yes. An activated copy receives the same security patches and feature updates through Windows Update as any other Windows 11 Pro installation.

Does it work with Windows 11 Pro N or Pro for Workstations?

The CID tool says my installation ID is blocked. What now?

This usually means the key has already been used on another device. Don’t keep retrying. Send us a ticket with your order number and a screenshot, and we’ll look into it.
