A Confirmation ID is a unique numeric code generated by Microsoft’s activation servers. It is the final step in the phone activation process — once you enter it into the activation wizard on your PC, your Microsoft product is fully licensed and unlocked.

The process works like this: Microsoft generates an Installation ID (IID) on your device, you submit that IID through an activation channel (phone, online tool, or our GETCID service), and Microsoft returns a matching Confirmation ID that you enter to complete activation.

How to Use the GETCID Tool — Step by Step

Step 1 — Purchase the GETCID service

Step 2 — Get your Installation ID from your PC

Follow these steps on the computer you want to activate:

  1. Open the Microsoft product (Office or Windows) you want to activate.
  2. When prompted, select “I want to activate the software by telephone” or navigate to Settings → Activation → Activate by phone.
  3. Select your country from the dropdown list.
  4. A long numeric code will appear on screen — this is your Installation ID. It is typically 48–54 digits long, displayed in groups separated by hyphens.
  5. Copy the full Installation ID exactly as shown.

Step 3 — Enter your IDs into the tool above

Troubleshooting — CID Not Working?

If the Confirmation ID you received does not activate your product, run through these checks before contacting support:

  • Check for typos — re-copy the Installation ID from your screen and re-run the tool. A single digit error produces an invalid CID.
  • Check the product version match — the Installation ID must come from the exact product and edition the key was purchased for. An Office 2021 Pro Plus key will not activate Office 2021 Standard, for example.
  • Do not skip groups — the Installation ID is entered in groups; make sure you have copied all groups, including the first and last.
  • Try a different activation method — if you have internet access, try activating online through Settings → Update & Security → Activation first to see if that resolves the issue faster.
