What Standard leaves out: Team Planner, inactive tasks, SharePoint task list sync and the connection to Project Server or Project Online are Professional-only. Copilot is not included in any 2024 one-time purchase.

How to activate

1. Copy the product key from your order email.
2. Go to microsoft365.com/setup and sign in with the Microsoft account you want to hold the licence.
3. Enter the key so Project Standard 2024 is added to your account.
4. Download the installer from your account page and run it.
5. Start Project and sign in with the same account to finish activation.

Is Project Standard 2024 a one-time purchase?

Yes. You pay once and there is no subscription. Microsoft provides security updates until 9 October 2029, as listed on the Project 2024 lifecycle page; the software keeps working after that without new fixes.

Can I upgrade from Standard to Professional later?

Not with an upgrade key. You would buy a Project Professional 2024 licence and install it in place of Standard. Your .mpp files open in both editions, so no plans are lost.

Can I reinstall it if my PC is replaced?

Yes. The key is stored in your Microsoft account, so you sign in on the new PC and install again. The licence covers one PC at a time.

Does Project Standard 2024 run on macOS?

No. Project is a Windows-only application. On a Mac it needs a Windows virtual machine.

Is Copilot included?

No. Copilot features sit in Microsoft’s cloud subscription plans. Project Standard 2024 is a one-time purchase without AI features.

How is this different from the Project 2024 Standard LTSC key?

Both are the Standard edition. This retail key binds to your Microsoft account; the LTSC key is a volume licence that activates by key and installs from an ISO without an account.
