This is a pack of 50 Windows Server 2025 Remote Desktop Services (RDS) User CALs. It licenses 50 named users to sign in to remote desktop sessions or RemoteApp programs hosted on Windows Server. You install the pack on your RD Licensing server through Remote Desktop Licensing Manager, and it activates online.

What is an RDS User CAL and when do you need one?
An RDS User CAL is a licence that lets one specific person connect to Remote Desktop Services. You need one for every user who opens a remote desktop session or RemoteApp on a Session Host. These licences are separate from, and in addition to, the standard Windows Server CALs that every user or device accessing the server already needs.
You don’t need RDS CALs for the two administrative Remote Desktop sessions that Windows Server includes for managing the server. You only need them once users start working on the server through RDS.
User CALs or Device CALs: which should you buy?
Buy User CALs when people connect from several devices, such as a laptop, a home PC and a tablet. Buy Device CALs when several people share one machine, such as shift workers on a reception PC.

Can 2025 RDS CALs be used with older Windows Server versions?
Yes. RDS CALs are backward compatible, so 2025 CALs cover users connecting to Session Hosts running Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019 or 2016. The reverse doesn’t work: older CALs can’t license users on a 2025 Session Host. Your RD Licensing server must run Windows Server 2025 to issue 2025 CALs.
How do I install RDS 2025 User CALs?
Install the CAL pack on the RD Licensing server, then point your Session Hosts at that server in Per User mode. The steps are below.
- On the server running the Remote Desktop Licensing role, open Remote Desktop Licensing Manager.
- Right-click the server, choose Activate Server if you haven’t done so already, and complete the online activation.
- Right-click the server again and choose Install Licenses. Select License Pack (Retail Purchase) and enter the 25-character key from your email.
- Confirm the product version (Windows Server 2025), the type (RDS Per User CAL) and the quantity (50).
- On each RD Session Host, set the licensing mode to Per User and specify the licensing server. You can do this in Server Manager’s RDS deployment properties or through Group Policy.
- Run RD Licensing Diagnoser to confirm there are no warnings.
New RDS deployments have a 120-day grace period, so install the CALs before it runs out. Otherwise users will be refused connections. Our Windows Server 2025 install and activation guide covers the server setup itself.
Frequently asked questions
Do I still need Windows Server CALs if I buy RDS CALs?
Yes. Every user or device that accesses Windows Server needs a Windows Server CAL. Users of Remote Desktop Services also need an RDS CAL on top of that.
Do I need Active Directory for User CALs?
For proper tracking and reporting, yes. Per User CALs are tracked against Active Directory user accounts. In a workgroup without a domain, Device CALs are usually the more practical choice.
Can I mix User and Device CALs?
Yes, a licensing server can hold both. However, each Session Host or collection runs in one licensing mode, so plan which machines use which type.
Are 50 CALs one key or 50 keys?
One pack. You enter a single key in Licensing Manager, and it installs 50 Per User CALs.
Can I buy more later?
Yes. Install additional packs on the same licensing server as your team grows. Larger orders can be quoted at wholesale rates.
What if the pack won’t install?
Check that the licensing server is running Windows Server 2025 and has been activated. Then open a support ticket with the error. Our refund and replacement policy applies.

Refunds
Once a purchased software package has been activated or an activation has been attempted through an online activation site, the package becomes none refundable But in serious matters, we can refund on Wincdkey wallet. Exchanges
Microsoft Softwares will exchange software purchases for up to 30 days after order completion but only if the software has not been downloaded by the customer, you can also return your purchased software within 30 days if the software remains none downloaded for a full refund.
Redemption or Activation:
After purchasing keys, you will get a voucher code which is needed to redeem. this voucher code have a lifetime validity but once redeem it then you need to activate your windows or office within 7 working days.
Refund process
Refunds will be credited back to the credit/debit card that customers used to place their order, refunds are processed from our platform immediately the time taken to credit to the customer depends entirely on the customers card issuer and/or bank account.
