RDS CAL vs Windows Server CAL
These are two different licences and Remote Desktop users need both. The Windows Server CAL covers access to the server itself. The RDS CAL covers the remote desktop session on top of it.
Unlike ordinary CALs, RDS CALs are enforced by software. After a 120-day grace period the session host refuses new connections unless it can find a licence server with CALs of the right type. So the licence key here is something you actually enter, not just file away.
Each device in this pack still needs a Windows Server 2022 Device CAL or its user needs a User CAL.

Version rule and support status
RDS CALs must match or be newer than the session host version. 2022 RDS Device CALs work with 2022 and older session hosts. The licence server itself must run a version at least as new as the CALs it hands out.
Windows Server 2022 moved out of mainstream support on 13 October 2026 and gets security updates until 14 October 2031, according to Microsoft's lifecycle page.

How to install RDS Device CALs
- Install the Remote Desktop Licensing role on a Windows Server 2022 machine.
- Open RD Licensing Manager, right-click the server and choose Activate Server.
- Right-click again and choose Install Licenses. Select the licence program that matches your purchase (normally Retail purchase / License Pack) and enter the key from your email.
- Choose Windows Server 2022, Per Device, and the quantity bought.
- Point the session hosts at this licence server and set the licensing mode to Per Device, through Server Manager deployment properties or Group Policy.
- Run RD Licensing Diagnoser to confirm no warnings remain.

How do I move CALs to a new licence server?
Use the Manage RDS CALs option in RD Licensing Manager on the new server. If that is not possible, contact our support team before reinstalling.
Which licence program do I choose in the wizard?
Choose the option that matches your order, normally Retail purchase / License Pack. If the wizard rejects the key, contact support with a screenshot.

Refunds
Once a purchased software package has been activated or an activation has been attempted through an online activation site, the package becomes none refundable But in serious matters, we can refund on Wincdkey wallet. After purchasing keys, you will get a voucher code which is needed to redeem. this voucher code have a lifetime validity but once redeem it then you need to activate your windows or office within 7 working days.
