Family is better value if two or more people need Office, or if cloud storage matters to you. Office 2024 is better value if one person needs the apps on one computer for several years with nothing to renew.

How do I redeem a Microsoft 365 Family key?

Redeem the key at microsoft365.com/setup with your Microsoft account, install the apps, and then invite your family. The steps are below.

1. Go to microsoft365.com/setup (setup.office.com redirects there) and sign in with your Microsoft account. You can create one for free.
2. Enter the 25-character key from your order email and confirm your country or region.
3. If Microsoft asks for a payment method, you can turn off recurring billing afterwards under account.microsoft.com > Services & subscriptions. That way nothing renews automatically when the six months end.
4. Install the apps from your account page, then sign in to Word on each device.
5. To share the plan, open Services & subscriptions > Sharing and invite up to five people by email.

If you already have Microsoft 365 Family, redeeming this key adds six months to the end of your current subscription. Your existing files and settings stay as they are.

Frequently asked questions

Does the key renew automatically?

Not by itself. The key covers six months. Microsoft may ask for a payment method when you redeem it, and you can switch recurring billing off in your Microsoft account so the plan stops at the end of the term.

Can I add this to my existing subscription?

Yes. If you already have Family, redeeming the key on the same Microsoft account adds six months to your plan. If you have Personal, Microsoft switches the account to Family and adjusts your remaining subscription time to match.

Do my family members get Copilot?

No. Copilot features in the Microsoft 365 apps are only available to the subscription owner. Family members you share with still get the desktop apps, their own 1 TB of storage and Defender.

What happens when the six months end?

The apps go into read-only mode, so you can open and print documents but not edit them. Storage above the free 5 GB stops syncing until you renew. You don’t lose any files that are already saved on your computer.

Will the key work in my country?

Microsoft 365 product keys are redeemed against the country or region set on your Microsoft account. If the key is rejected for regional reasons, contact us before trying again.

Is this the same as a lifetime Office 365 account?

No. Microsoft 365 is always a time-limited subscription. This is a genuine 6-month term redeemed to your own Microsoft account, which you control.

What if the key won’t redeem?

Check which account you’re signed into and look for mistyped characters. If it still fails, open a ticket with a screenshot. Our refund and replacement policy applies to keys that won’t redeem.
