Autodesk Civil 3D 2027 is a Windows CAD and BIM application for civil infrastructure. It models terrain surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, grading and pipe networks as intelligent, linked objects, so a change to a road alignment ripples through the profile, corridor and sections without redrawing. It is built on AutoCAD and produces standard DWG drawings.

Daylight Feature Line tool

A new Feature Lines tool creates daylight lines automatically from your grading criteria. The result is an editable feature line rather than a complex grading object, which keeps grading models lighter.

Horizontal Regression Analysis

This fits a design alignment of tangents, curves and spirals to existing survey data to give a best-fit alignment. In 2027 it gains a modeless interface with a live preview linked to curvature plots and segment tables. It first appeared in 2026.1.

Autodesk Drainage Tools for Civil 3D

Drainage design and analysis powered by InfoDrainage keeps moving forward. Autodesk lists FAA and Kirpich time-of-concentration methods for catchments, multi-slope channels, more gravity pipe shapes in analysis and a porosity option for ponds.

Autodesk Assistant

The AI assistant gets a redesigned chat with a prompt library and chat history. A tech preview adds drawing-aware help, such as selecting objects and summarising their properties.

Connected References for Data Shortcuts

In 2027.1, data shortcut references get their own Dref tab in the External References palette, making broken references easier to find and repair.

.NET 10 support

Civil 3D 2027 moves to .NET 10. Add-ins and country kit tools that have not been migrated to .NET 10 may stop working, so check your plug-ins before upgrading a production machine.

Civil 3D 2027 vs AutoCAD 2027

Civil 3D includes the AutoCAD toolset and adds civil-specific modelling, so a Civil 3D user does not need a separate AutoCAD licence for general drafting. If you only draw 2D details or general layouts, AutoCAD 2027 for Windows is the lighter, cheaper choice.

Is Civil 3D 2027 a subscription or a perpetual licence?

It is a subscription. This product gives you a 1-year subscription licence for one device, not a perpetual licence. Autodesk no longer sells new perpetual licences for Civil 3D, so every new purchase is time-limited and must be renewed to keep using the software after the term ends.

Does Civil 3D 2027 include AutoCAD?

Yes. Civil 3D is built on AutoCAD, so all the standard AutoCAD drafting commands, layouts and DWG tools are available inside it. It also includes Map 3D functionality through the Planning and Analysis workspace. You do not need a separate AutoCAD licence for general drafting on the same machine.

Can I install Civil 3D 2027 on another computer?

This licence covers one device. If you change PCs, sign out of Civil 3D on the old machine, uninstall it, then install and sign in on the new one. Using it on two computers at the same time is outside the licence terms. Our support team can help if you get a sign-in error after moving.

Does Civil 3D 2027 work on Mac?

No. Civil 3D 2027 is a Windows-only application and there is no native macOS version. Mac users generally run it inside a Windows virtual machine, but Autodesk only lists Windows 11 and Windows 10 64-bit as supported operating systems, so check performance on large models before relying on it.

What happens after the 1 year ends?

After 12 months the subscription expires and Civil 3D stops being licensed on your device. Your DWG files stay on your computer and can still be opened in other DWG software. To keep designing in Civil 3D, buy a renewal or a new 1-year licence before the term ends to avoid downtime.

How is Civil 3D 2027 delivered?

What are the minimum system requirements for Civil 3D 2027?

You need 64-bit Windows 11 or Windows 10 (build 17763 or later), a 2.5 GHz or faster x64 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 2 GB DirectX 11 graphics card and 20 GB of disk space. Autodesk recommends 32 GB of RAM and an 8 GB DirectX 12 GPU for real project work.

Will my Civil 3D 2025 or 2026 plug-ins work in 2027?

Not always. Civil 3D 2027 moves to .NET 10, and Autodesk warns that plug-ins and extensions not migrated to .NET 10 may stop working. Older country kit reports can also be affected. Check with each add-in vendor for a 2027 build before upgrading your main workstation.

Can Civil 3D 2027 open drawings from older versions?

Yes. Civil 3D 2027 opens drawings created in earlier releases. Once you save an older drawing in 2027 it is upgraded, and colleagues on older releases may not be able to edit the civil objects. Agree a version with your project team before you start saving shared files.
