What is Autodesk Advance Steel 2025?
Autodesk Advance Steel 2025 is 3D steel detailing software for Windows that runs on the AutoCAD 2025 platform. Detailers use it to model members, plates and parametric connections, then produce shop drawings, general arrangements, bills of materials and NC files for fabrication machines from one coordinated model.
Because it shares a platform year with Civil 3D 2025 and AutoCAD 2025, it slots neatly into an office that kept every seat on the same release. That matters when you share DWG references and plug-ins across teams.
What’s new in Advance Steel 2025
Autodesk’s What’s New in Advance Steel 2025 notes describe a short list of changes. These are the ones worth knowing about.
Move to .NET 8
The base 2025 release switched Advance Steel to .NET 8. Autodesk cites better performance, security and developer features.
.NET 10 with update 2025.0.4
Update 2025.0.4 moves the .NET component on to .NET 10. It needs the AutoCAD 2025.1.4 update installed too, and other AutoCAD 2025-based products on the same PC, such as Civil 3D, should be brought up to date.
Choice of SQL LocalDB version
From 2025.0.4 you can tell Advance Steel to use SQL LocalDB 2022 or 2025 instead of the default 2019. You install the newer LocalDB yourself and add one setting.
Mark transfer to Revit
The Advance Steel 2025 Extension for Revit can send single part and assembly marks back to Revit 2025. SDNF export positions and folded beam imports were also fixed.
Fabrication output fixes
User profile cuts in NC files and hole positions in Ayrshire CAM output were corrected. Section cuts on camera details now respect the view depth of the source view.

Advance Steel vs Revit for steel detailing
Use Revit to design and coordinate the building, and Advance Steel to turn the steel frame into fabrication information. Many firms run both and pass the model between them with the Advance Steel Extension for Revit.

The Fast shaded visual styles need DirectX 12 at Feature Level 12_0. Large models and point clouds call for 32 GB of RAM.

Yes. This listing gives you a 1-year subscription to Advance Steel 2025 for one Windows device. Is this a perpetual licence?
No, it is a 1-year subscription. Autodesk stopped selling new perpetual licences for its design software, including Advance Steel, so every new licence is time-limited. During the year you get the 2025 updates Autodesk releases. After 12 months the software stops being licensed unless you renew the subscription.
Does Advance Steel 2025 work on Windows 10?
Yes. Autodesk supports 64-bit Windows 10 version 1809 or later as well as 64-bit Windows 11 for Advance Steel 2025. That is a key difference from the 2027 release, which is Windows 11 only. ARM processors are not supported, so use a standard Intel or AMD 64-bit PC for detailing work.
Can I install Advance Steel 2025 on a Mac?
Not natively. Advance Steel 2025 is a Windows program and Autodesk does not release a macOS version. Some users run it inside a Windows virtual machine, but Autodesk lists ARM processors as unsupported, which rules out Windows on Apple silicon for a supported setup. A dedicated Windows workstation is the safest option.
Can I move the licence to a new PC?
Yes, one device at a time. Sign out of Advance Steel 2025 on the old PC, install it on the new one and sign in with the same Autodesk Account. The licence covers 1 device, so using it on two machines at the same moment is not allowed under this product.
What happens when the year runs out?
Advance Steel 2025 will stop being licensed when your 12 months end, and you will no longer be able to work in it. Your models and drawings stay on your drive. Renew before the expiry date to keep working, or move to a newer release such as 2026 at renewal time.
How quickly is the licence delivered?

What PC do I need for Advance Steel 2025?
At minimum, a 64-bit Windows 10 (1809+) or Windows 11 PC with a 2.5 GHz 8-thread processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 2 GB DirectX 11 graphics card, a 1080p screen and 10 GB of disk space plus cache. Autodesk recommends 32 GB of RAM and an 8 GB DirectX 12 card.
Should I install update 2025.0.4?
Yes, in most cases. Update 2025.0.4 brings .NET 10, security fixes and the option to use a newer SQL LocalDB. It requires AutoCAD 2025.1.4, and Autodesk says language packs must go on before that update, so follow Autodesk’s install order to avoid language packs failing to start.
