What is Autodesk Inventor Pro 2025?

Autodesk Inventor Pro 2025 is a 3D parametric design tool for Windows that engineers use to model parts, assemble machines, run motion studies and produce shop drawings. Everything is linked, so a change to a dimension flows through the assembly, drawings and bill of materials without redrawing.

Why buy 2025 today? File compatibility is the usual reason. Inventor files saved in a newer release cannot be opened in an older one, so teams often keep every seat on the version their customers and suppliers use.

What Inventor Professional 2025 brings

Taken from Autodesk’s Inventor 2025 What's New blog and the Inventor 2025 help notes.

  • Modernised sheet metal interface: tools are arranged in a more logical order, and features that were hard to find are easier to reach.
  • Finish feature improvements: faster, more efficient workflows for applying finishes in part modelling.
  • IFC import: bring Industry Foundation Classes data from BIM projects straight into Inventor.
  • Custom colour schemes: recolour every part in an assembly at once for reviews and presentations.
  • Hidden section highlighting: see hidden portions of components when sectioning assemblies.
  • Oriented Minimum Bounding Cylinder: a cylindrical envelope option for simplifying assemblies.
  • Faster fasteners and linked item numbers: quicker fastener placement in assembly patterns, and leader text that can include item numbers tied to the parts list.

Key features

  • Sketch-based parametric part modelling and model states
  • Assemblies with constraints, joints and contact analysis
  • Sheet metal, weldments and Frame Generator
  • Tube and pipe and cable and harness environments
  • Model-based definition with 3D annotations
  • Associative drawings, parts lists and balloons
  • Shape Generator for lighter part concepts
  • iLogic and API automation

Frequently asked questions

Is Inventor Professional 2025 a perpetual licence?

No. It is a 1-year subscription for 1 device. Autodesk stopped selling new perpetual Inventor licences, so every purchase is time-limited. When the year is up you renew to keep using it; the files you created stay on your computer.

Why buy Inventor 2025 when 2027 is available?

Because of file compatibility and hardware. Inventor files saved in a newer version cannot be opened in an older one, so teams match the version their partners use. Inventor 2025 also supports Windows 10, while Inventor 2027 requires Windows 11.

Can I open Inventor 2025 files in a newer version?

Yes. Newer Inventor releases open files from earlier versions and migrate them when saved. The reverse does not work: a file saved in 2026 or 2027 cannot be opened in 2025. Keep that in mind before upgrading only some seats in a team.

Does Inventor 2025 work on Windows 10?

Yes. Autodesk lists 64-bit Windows 11 and Windows 10 for Inventor 2025. You also need .NET 8.0 or later and Windows Update enabled during installation. Autodesk can revise OS support, so check its current article before you install.

Is Inventor 2025 available on macOS?

No. Inventor is a Windows-only application and Autodesk does not provide a Mac version. If you work on a Mac, Autodesk Fusion is the mechanical CAD option that runs natively on macOS. Otherwise you need a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC.

Can I use the licence on two computers?

No, this listing covers 1 device. To change computers, sign out of Inventor on the old PC, install on the new one and sign in with the same Autodesk Account. If the switch does not go smoothly, our support team will help you sort it out.

What happens when the year ends?

Inventor stops being licensed after 12 months and will not open for design work until you renew. Your parts, assemblies and drawings stay on your drive. Buy another 1-year licence when you are ready to continue.

How fast is delivery?

Usually a few minutes. We send the licence by email after payment, along with the set-up steps. You download the installer from your Autodesk Account. Use our order tracking page if the email has not arrived, and check your spam folder.

What are the minimum requirements for Inventor 2025?

Autodesk’s minimum is 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a 2.5 GHz CPU, 16 GB RAM, a 2 GB DirectX 11 graphics card, 1280 x 1024 display, 40 GB disk space and .NET 8.0. For smooth assembly work it recommends 32 GB RAM and an 8 GB GPU.
