What is Autodesk Civil 3D 2024?

Autodesk Civil 3D 2024 is a Windows application for designing and documenting civil infrastructure such as roads, plots, earthworks and drainage. It builds linked models of surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors and pipe networks on the AutoCAD platform, so design changes update sections, quantities and annotation automatically, and output stays in DWG.

The 2024 release matters mostly for compatibility. It is the last Civil 3D version built on the older .NET Framework 4.8 platform before 2025 moved to .NET 8, so some long-standing in-house tools and third-party add-ins still target it.

What 2024 brings

These changes are listed in Autodesk’s Civil 3D 2024 What’s New help and the Autodesk AEC blog for the 2024 launch and later updates.

Subassembly deployment and management

Custom subassemblies can be posted to a shared project location. When a newer version is posted, corridors that use it can be updated, which keeps a whole team on the same content.

Project Explorer in the main installer

Project Explorer ships with Civil 3D 2024 at no extra cost, with better navigation and tools for custom property data and reporting.

ArcGIS connector improvements

ArcGIS features can be imported as AutoCAD points, polylines or polygons. Later 2024 updates let you edit those objects and save changes back to ArcGIS.

Corridor transitions and pressure networks

Corridor transition sets can be copied and pasted across a corridor, and pressure network layout and editing were improved.

Gravity pipe connections

In the 2024.1 update, gravity pipes can connect to structures that belong to other networks.

Autodesk Assistant

The 2024.1 update introduced Autodesk Assistant, an AI-guided help tool, which needs the matching AutoCAD 2024.1 update.

Key features

  • Existing ground surfaces from survey points, breaklines and contours
  • Road alignments and vertical profiles with design checks
  • Corridors from assemblies and subassemblies
  • Feature lines and grading for platforms and embankments
  • Gravity and pressure pipe networks
  • Parcel layout and area labelling
  • Cross sections, earthwork volumes and quantity take-off
  • Plan production for plan and profile sheets

Civil 3D 2024 vs Civil 3D 2027

Choose 2024 when compatibility with older files or add-ins matters more than new tools. For a fresh start with the newest drainage and grading features, the 2027 release is the better match, but it brings stricter add-in requirements.

Who is it for?

  • Teams locked to 2024 by a framework agreement or client CAD standard.
  • Firms with in-house .NET Framework tools that have not been ported to .NET 8 or later.
  • Subcontractors who must return files a 2024 client can fully edit.
  • Students and trainees following a course written for the 2024 interface.
  • Budget-conscious users who need core Civil 3D tools without the newest features.

Frequently asked questions

Is Civil 3D 2024 still available to buy?

Yes. This listing gives you a 1-year subscription licence for one device that runs Civil 3D 2024. Autodesk subscriptions normally let you use previous versions as well, which is how older releases like 2024 remain in use. Check the exact version access rules in your order email.

Is this a perpetual licence for Civil 3D 2024?

No. It is a 1-year subscription for one device, not a perpetual licence. Autodesk stopped selling new perpetual Civil 3D licences years ago. After 12 months you need to renew to keep the software licensed.

Can I use Civil 3D 2024 on two computers?

No, not at the same time. The licence covers one device. You can move it to a new PC by signing out and uninstalling on the old one first, then signing in on the new machine.

Does Civil 3D 2024 run on Windows 11?

Yes. Autodesk lists 64-bit Windows 11 and 64-bit Windows 10 version 1809 or later as supported. It does not run natively on macOS, and ARM processors are not supported, so it needs an x64 Windows PC.

What happens after my 1-year term?

The subscription ends and Civil 3D 2024 is no longer licensed on your device. Your drawings stay on your computer. Renew or buy a new term before the end date if you need to keep working.

How do I receive Civil 3D 2024?

By email, usually within minutes of payment. The email has your licence details and step-by-step instructions. If it has not arrived, check spam or our order tracking page.

What are Civil 3D 2024’s system requirements?

64-bit Windows 10 (1809+) or Windows 11, a 2.5 GHz or faster x64 CPU, 8 GB RAM (32 GB recommended), a 2 GB DirectX 11 GPU (8 GB DirectX 12 recommended), 20 GB disk space and .NET Framework 4.8.

Will my old Civil 3D add-ins work in 2024?

Usually yes, if they were built for Civil 3D 2024 on .NET Framework 4.8. That is one of the main reasons to choose 2024. From 2025 Civil 3D moved to .NET 8, and add-ins not migrated may stop working there.

Can Civil 3D 2024 open files from Civil 3D 2027?

Not fully. Drawings saved in a newer release can be opened, but newer civil objects may appear as proxy graphics that you cannot edit. For two-way work, agree on one version with the other party.
