Autodesk ReCap Pro 2027 is reality capture software for surveyors, engineers and BIM teams who turn laser scans and photos into registered point clouds and meshes for use in Revit, Civil 3D and AutoCAD. This licence covers 1 Windows device for 1 year and is delivered by email straight after payment.

ReCap Pro 2027 shipped in April 2026, followed by update 2027.0.1 in June 2026, so it is a real versioned release rather than a rebadged subscription.

What is Autodesk ReCap Pro 2027?

Autodesk ReCap Pro 2027 is a Windows desktop application that imports terrestrial, mobile and handheld laser scans, registers them into one point cloud, and lets you clean, measure, classify and mesh the result. Since 2026 it also handles photo-based capture inside the same app, so you can turn drone or camera photos into 3D meshes.

The output feeds design tools directly. Point clouds in RCP/RCS format attach to Revit, AutoCAD and Civil 3D, while meshes and classified layers support scan-to-BIM and as-built checks.

What about ReCap Photo? Autodesk folded ReCap Photo’s photo-to-3D workflow into ReCap Pro with the 2026 release, so there is no separate install to manage. The 2027 notes do not list any photogrammetry changes.

Level panoramic images on E57 import

ReCap can now detect and straighten panoramas that are not level when you import E57 files. This is aimed at handheld and SLAM scanners, so RealViews line up better with the point cloud.

Scan to Mesh templates, schemas and attributes

You can save classification templates, map schemas and add custom attributes such as asset IDs. Classifications carry into the Mesh Editor and out to Revit, Model Coordination and the newly supported IFC 4.0.

New ReCap Home

The start screen was redesigned to match Revit, Civil 3D and AutoCAD. Finding, sorting and opening recent projects is quicker.

Autodesk Assistant (tech preview)

Only one at a time. This product licenses 1 device, so if you move from a desktop to a field laptop, sign out on the first machine and sign in on the second with the same Autodesk Account. Running ReCap Pro on two computers at once needs a second licence.

What happens when my year ends?

ReCap Pro 2027 stops being licensed at the end of the 12-month term. Your RCP and RCS projects remain on your storage and can still be opened in other Autodesk tools that read them, but registration and editing need an active licence. Renew before expiry to avoid a gap.

How is ReCap Pro 2027 delivered?

By email, usually within minutes of payment being confirmed. The email contains your licence details and instructions, and you download the installer from your Autodesk Account. Nothing is shipped.
